Purpose of NCTMC

The ultimate purpose of NCTMC is to develop each and every student to become a certified Christian martial arts instructor/master who is willing to voluntarily work for his/her community and therefore contributing to the greater good of the country. To achieve this goal, we are strived to instill the following values: self-confidence, self-control, courtesy, responsibility, justice, loyalty, respect, indomitable spirit, self-sacrifice, self-discipline and leadership based on Christian spirit in addition to martial arts. Being a Black Belt in Taekwondo does not end with just physical, mental, and spiritual which he/she attains through martial arts training. It also marks the beginning of finding out how he/she can become more involved and assert themselves in an effort to contribute to their own community. Becoming a master in Taekwondo means to take responsibility that it comes with. Furthermore, each individual will continue to seek any additional responsibility rather than just being content with what they have without any further application of the teachings they receive. One of the core philosophies of Taekwondo is to show courtesy and respect to others with integrity, responsibility, and loyalty based on martial arts training.

Establishment Objective of NCTMC

Currently in the United States there are approximately 25,000 Taekwondo related martial arts studios and over 5 million students training throughout these studios. It is also estimated that there are over 30 million former students who have trained for at least 3 months or greater. Of these 30 million students , about 80% of them are more than willing to continue their training given the opportunity and the right circumstances.

These numbers prove that Taekwondo related martial arts are a popular sport amongst people of all ages and not just teenagers. With these facts, it is also safe to assume that the number of students will continue to increase and the future in this field appears to be very promising.

Under these conditions, we have come to establish an organization known as the National Council for Taekwondo Master Certification (NCTMC) in an effort to properly train and develop the spirit and skills of Taekwondo. Furthermore, it is our goal to improve the quality of Taekwondo instructors and masters.

Now the NCTMC develops qualified Taekwondo instructors/masters as well as improve their quality. The certification process will be strengthened by re-certification program for existing instructors/masters.
